[b]Anyone know what will happen if one fakes their army rank

hentaiangel SG

Hi ,

If a singapore guy somehow buys the whole SAF uniforms and all the fancy badges and pretends to be a MAJOR in the army so as to use the respected image to first gain trust of civilians and then cheat them of money. Can anyone tell me what is the army's standing and reaction towards such a matter?

I am sincerely wanting to find out and hope that someone who is in the know can enlighten me.Thanks! Exclamation Very Happy

you will be charged in civilian court and jailed.

if you are in the army you will be court-martialed after completing your sentence outside.

hisoka SG

hmm if civilian and you just wear the uniform but dun do anything?

Marco_Simone SG

max 6 mths detention for just impersonating as an officer.

subarugal SG

still cannot.. coz the rank of officer is presented with honor so have to respect the one who presented it Smile

hisoka SG

oh well one more instance of total lack of freedom and rights in singapore

kopiosatu SG

i would call it basic courtesy and respect.

you don't take your national flag and start using it as a scarf.

a military uniform is not a fashion statement.

hisoka SG

can do and wont do is 2 very seperate thigns mind you. btw using the flag as a scarf can also mean you are very patriotic.

Gedanken SG

Sheesh, just look at what the Brandenbergers did in WW2 and you'll know the importance of having the right person wear the right uniform. Rolling Eyes

kopiosatu SG

good luck to you then, no point stating anything with your kind of mindset.

so you haven worn a millitary uniform? If you had, you would had understood the pride and honour of the uniform, and the Crest that you wear on your beret. And the training before you earn the rank. Grow up 1st and serve your NS if your are a Sporean male. Else, you will never understand the pride and honour aspects of it.

hisoka SG

Laughing asking pple to grow up is rather offensive but i don't think you mean it badly.

i've done my ns btw no pride unfortunately i would attribute it to the facts that i was forced into it and almost half the population wears/wore the uniform.

and oh yeah regarding rank i would say if you were a SG or officer you earned the rank thru training(maybe though i can say its just a course) but for lower ranks, which are the makority, they get the rank simply as a matter of time in fact in the past for cpls its forced onto them.

honour and pride i would understand if it were other than the singapore military where we see ample instances of incompetent officers and specialist who are given the rank not due to their abilities in the areas of work.

maybe my views are extreme or misplaced, i do admit a certain biasedness due to experience and liability.

LazerLordz SG

Well,I get where you are coming from. Not everyone has the same experiences in the Army.So just chill okay.

Gordonator SG

if that idiot wants to fake a MAJ by wearing all the badges he can buy, can easily see through him if he wear a army JCC badge, naval diver badge and an air force pilot brevet together. Laughing

dragg SG

at least pretend to be a General.

Gordonator SG

highest rank e-mark is selling is MAJ. beach road i saw COL ranks before. anyway how many generals are there in singapore? can easily tell. Laughing

CKtalon SG

hmm..certain gift shops in SAF camps do sell ranks up to SWO and COL..
Star ranks are more 'special'..dun think it can be found on the market unless some general sells his rank on e-bay or something Laughing

Gordonator SG

browsed the e-mart web site. found that BG rank can be bought online. all epaulette rankcan be bought for only 2.90 for no.4 and 1.55 for no.3. Shocked

LazerLordz SG

There's a shop at Beach Road selling LT-GEN ranks for Number 1( in Gold) and Temasek Green, like those on coveralls. Shocked
